Preparing Your Child for a Residential School

Parents play a very important role in preparing a child for life in a boarding school. The good points of a boarding school must be pointed out to her. We suggest that you start preparing your child mentally as well as physically soon after registering her name with us. This will help her to settle down quickly in the new environment while reducing your anxieties. You can encompass the following points:

  • The fact that she will be independent and will have many friends of her own age.
  • Allowing your child to develop independent habits such as sleeping alone, eating independently and taking care of her own belongings. Training your child for such independence will go a long way in helping her to settle down in hostel life.
  • Telling your child that discipline, consideration for others and sharing things with schoolmates are an integral part of boarding school life. Home life is in many ways different from boarding school life.
  • Emphasize that you are not sending her away because you do not love her, but because you love her so much that you want the best for her.

Code of Conduct for Students
  • To be polite and well mannered.
  • To be smart and neatly dressed.
  • To respect parents, teachers and elders.
  • To regard the school as her second home and do everything possible to keep the classroom and the school premises neat and pleasing to the eye.
  • To avoid writing on walls and carving out names on desks, benches, table, chairs, walls and trees.
  • Never to indulge in deliberate destruction of school property and to report any such instance to the teachers.
  • To be regular in submitting homework and assignments.
  • To treat her schoolmates as her own sisters and help younger ones whenever possible.
  • To be ready to co-operate in any endeavor to promote the well-being of the school and schoolmates.
  • Never to bully the weak or make fun of the old, the poor and the handicapped.
  • Never to leave their classroom without permission during any period.
  • Never to loiter aimlessly along corridors, run about, shout or whistle.
