Introduction

Darshan is an act of seeing the Lord's murti with reverence and devotion. When Hindus go to a mandir, they go for darshan of the Lord's murti. It is not similar to seeing or looking at worldly things or places. The act of darshan comprises of seeing the Lord's murti with one's mind and heart. The devotee respectfully absorbs the Lord's murti, keenly seeing His eyes, face, decorations, clothes and garland. The darshan of the Lord's murti gives peace and a feeling of blessedness to the devotee.
