The inauguration of the new BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Atlantic City took place on 13 November 2002. The Vedic murti-pratishtha ceremony of the murtis installed had been performed by Pramukh Swami Maharaj at Amdavad on 12 August 2002. Subsequently, these murtis were brought to the new mandir in Atlantic City. The traditional inauguration mahapuja ceremony took place in the esteemed presence of Pujya Mahant Swami.

Also, to commemorate the inauguration, an annakut of over 200 vegetarian dishes was offered to the deities.

The celebrations ended with an inspiring speech by Pujya Mahant Swami.
