Groundbreaking Ceremony of BAPS Youth Complex

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new BAPS Youth Complex in Auckland, New Zealand, took place on Sunday 29 April 2007, in the presence of Pujya Kothari Swami and the Chief Guest, Honorable Phil Goff, Minister of Defense and Trade. The sadhus conducted the Vedic mahapuja ceremony from 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm in the mandir auditorium before the actual groundbreaking ritual on-site. More than 300 devotees and well-wishers took part in the ceremony by placing a stone in the foundation of the new Youth Complex, which will have extensive facilities for young people to conduct classes, organize youth seminars and shibirs.

In the public assembly afterwards, attended by over 500 devotees, Honorable Phil Goff praised BAPS and Pramukh Swami Maharaj for their noble service in society by creating a conducive environment for young people to grow up with a positive attitude, moral values, and spiritual awareness. Thereafter a cultural drama on family values and nurturing children was presented by children and youths. Addressing the gathering at the end, Pujya Kothari Swami pointed out that the facility will serve the future generations. He prayed for peace and harmony in society and wished everyone success in their pursuits to uphold cultural and spiritual values.
