BAPS Mahila Shibir
From 29-31 July at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, London, the BAPS UK Mahila Mandal organised a three-day shibir as part of the celebrations to mark the tenth anniversary of the London Mandir. The three-day programme was filled with cultural dances, speeches and dramas. A special exhibition was displayed using the theme of ‘Nari Gaurav Gatha’ and Upliftment of Women in the Society by Bhagwan Swaminarayan.
The deep pragatya was performed by local MPs Hon. Sarah Teather and Hon. Dawn Butler together with Kate Markhouse, Director of Faith Forum and Shardaben Madhvani. The first evening highlighted the contribution of female volunteers – young and old – in building the world famous BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Neasden, London.
The second day, entitled ‘Sankruti Din’ portrayed the richness of Hindu culture through mini-festivals, drama, dances and music. Young girls through to elder ladies displayed their talents in these performances.
The final day was ‘Guru Bhakti Din’, with performances by various mandals demonstrating their love and affection for the guru ending with the theme of BAPS – Ek Parivar.
Over the 3 days, almost 3000 ladies witnessed performances by some 325 participants who took part in the programme.
