‘Adarsh’
National Karyakar Shibir
Sunday 30 September 2007

This year’s National Karyakar Shibir, entitled ‘Adarsh’ was held in the presence of Pramukh Swami Maharaj on Sunday 30 September 2007 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London. Over 800 delegates representing 33 centres from UK & Europe attended the event, where Bal, Kishore, Yuvak and Sanyukta Mandals explained the components of the title (‘Antardrashti’, ‘Dradhta’, ‘Adar’, ‘Ruchi’, ‘Samjan’ and ‘Het’) through a variety of media throughout the day.

Ishwarcharan Swami introduced the purpose of the Shibir, emphasising the fortune of the gathered karyakars for the opportunity of seva. The principles of ‘Antardrashti’ were explained by Ishwarcharan Swami and elaborated further with a question-answer session with senior sadhus. The second session revolved around the importance of ‘Dradhta’ in niyams with a narrative from Anandswarup Swami and references from Swamishri through a video presentation.

‘Adar’ was the third component of the Shibir where Satsang progression and in particular, the subject of respect was addressed. The importance of ‘Ruchi’ was explained by Atmatrupt Swami, and further demonstrated with an enlightening sketch. The following session presented the topic of ‘Samjan’ including an informative debate and a question-answer session about mahima.

The evening finale was focussed on ‘Het’ where touching episodes from the life of Swamishri were narrated by Narayancharan Swami. An entertaining series of short sketches provided an informative summary of the day with each theme of ‘Adarsh’ enacted with appropriate scenes.

The conclusion was fittingly provided by Swamishri who explained the qualities of an ideal karyakar, commenting in particular on the importance of mahima and observing virtues in others. Swamishri also encouraged everyone to introspect on what they had learnt in the Shibir. Following the conclusion of the Shibir, the joyous mood continued as devotees proceeded for samip darshan of Swamishri.
