Swaminarayan School Din
Wednesday 10 October 2007

The children of The Swaminarayan School enjoyed a special evening with Pramukh Swami Maharaj on Wednesday 10 October 2007.  The event, held at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London, involved a variety of cultural performances from students of the school including musical pieces, speeches, shlokas and bhajans.  Dressed in their uniforms, the pupils delighted the audience with great displays of talent, underlining the variety of activities that the establishment develops.

Viveksagar Swami spoke of the history of the Swaminarayan School and the importance of the Mandir and School as a provider of education and values. An awards ceremony for high-achievers in the GCSE examinations this year took place. The presentations from the students also included a tabla ensemble and recitation of Sanskrit shlokas.  The pupils of Year 6 also entertained the audience with a dance.

Professor Gavin Flood, Academic Director for Hindu Studies from Oxford University, and the tutor of Paramtattva Swami, was also present in the programme. In his address, Professor Flood encouraged Hindu children to pursue Hindu Studies and become an intellectual voice for the Hindu faith.

Swamishri blessed the assembly and praised the preparation of the children in their performances.  He thanked the parents and teachers for developing talent in their children and underlined the importance of nurturing children from infancy to allow them to develop moral and spiritual values, so they could serve society and their parents.
