Shri
Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated across North America with
tremendous ardor and enthusiasm. In accordance with tradition,
the festivities were carried out through various devotional
and cultural presentations including drama skits staging the
birth and episodes of Shri Krishna's life.
The general program included various kirtans extolling the
divinity of Bhagwan Shri Krishna and these buoyant devotional
songs rocked the audience into a spirit of devotion. Speeches
praising the glory of Shri Krishna reminded all of the need
for single-minded and unconditional devotion to God and the
words of the spiritual master "Karishyam Vacha Tavaha". Topics
centered around the virtues of Shri Krishna and the relevance
of Shri Krishna's message in today's society.
The
youths presented the drama "Paksha" while children performed
beautifully choreographed dances thus adding a traditional
flavor to the festivities. The finale took place with Shri
Krishna Janmotsav and the singing of "Nand Gher Anand Bhayo,
Jai Kanaiya Laal Ki" as all participated in swinging the beautifully
adorned cradle of Shri Krishna filling the entire atmosphere
with divinity.
