On the occasion of the 87th birthday of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Assemblywoman Ellen Young from Flushing, NY presented a resolution to volunteers of BAPS passed by legislative body of New York State declaring December 7, 2007 as Pramukh Swami Day.

Assemblywoman Young stated, "Pramukh Swami Maharaj is a great spiritual leader in the Hindu religion, and we are here today to recognize his contributions to the world on his birthday. In the State Assembly this year, I introduced this resolution with the support of my colleagues to name today Pramukh Swami Day in the state of New York." She also appreciated humanitarian and cultural activities of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
