Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon chilli - ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon coriander-cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • juice of half a lemon
  • salt to taste

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped green coriander

Method:

  • peel and cut potatoes in square cubes
  • wash thoroughly, keep aside
  • heat oil in a pot
  • add mustard, cumin
  • when it splutters add chilli - ginger paste
  • add potatoes
  • add salt and turmeric powder
  • stir properly, cover and cook on low heat
  • stir in between
  • when cooked add dhania-jeera powder, chilli powder
  • stir properly
  • take off heat and garnish with coriander
