• During Swamishri's meeting session this morning, Shri Manojbhai came with his two children.
  He said, "Swami, this one wants to become a great scientist and this one an MBA graduate." Swamishri added, "You can become whatever you wish but pray to God daily. Keep Satsang in
  your life and you will become what you wish. After becoming a scientist don't make atom bombs. One should not think of killing others, but strive for the happiness and goodness of all." text

20-5-1999 : Thursday (Adhik Jeth Sud-6, 2055), Mumbai

• This evening, after the balaks and kishores performed a drama, Swamishri blessed the
  assembly, saying, " When a person indulges in worldly attractions he gets destroyed.
  Bad influences can affect him at any age. No matter how intelligent a person may be but when
  he goes to a gambler he cannot resist playing a bet. This is simply because of the influence of
  an immoral atmosphere. Don't the boys and girls revel together in discos! But that does not give happiness, while this (Satsang) is the immortal nectar that gives ever-lasting happiness.
  "We look upto T.V. as if it is a god and never feel that it is the devil. T.V. is a monster, it simply swallows everyone! The problem is we have not exercised discrimination from the beginning and
  that is why we feel like watching it..."

22-5-1999 : Saturday (Adhik Jeth Sud-8, 2055), Mumbai, Parent's Day

• The evening assembly was declared as 'Parent's Day'. After a drama presented by the kishores
  and yuvaks, Swamishri addressed the assembly in the same vein: "As parents, we should take
  extra care of our children because our world has become more materialistic. Consequently, our problems have multiplied. But if God or this holy sadhu becomes a priority in life then we can solve and find solutions to many of our problems. "Because we live a householder's life it doesn't mean
  we should not think of our worldly responsibilities - occupation, business, money. But along with
  this if Satsang (spirituality) and God are predominant in our lives, then there will be peace and happiness in our life as a householder. We will also be successful in life. If we perform arti and
  puja in the house, read Satsang books and have spiritual dialogues then our children will become exposed to and consolidated in Satsang matters. "One has to take great care in rearing children. Just as if one wants to grow a mango tree, one has to take great pains, but trees that flourish of
  their own accord are of no use! And since a mango tree is a fruit bearing tree one has to take special care"

29-5-1999 : Saturday (Adhik Jeth Sud-14, 2055), Mumbai, Children's Day

• In the evening assembly little children presented a dance on the kirtan, "He ji meto harakh nihaliya ..." Then some little children expressed why they like Swamishri. Their innocent presentations touched the entire assembly. This was followed by Swamishri's blessings, "We saw the presentations by the children. We also saw how children got entangled in addictions, vices and habits of gambling. If they get entrapped in bad company, wrong environment and vices then that
  will spell the end of them. If one contracts a disease from a young age then one will become weak and unhealthy..."

30-5-1999 : Sunday (Adhik Jeth Sud-15, 2055), Mumbai Proclamation Ceremony of 'Bhagwan Swaminarayan Flyover'

• At 10.30 am Swamishri reached the suburb of Sion in Bombay. The Mayor of Bombay, Shri Hareshwar Patil and Deputy Mayor, Shri Rambhai Barot, were also present for this important event. Swamishri was welcomed and honored by the officials. The proclamation ceremony was performed
  in the presence of Lord Harikrishna Maharaj and amidst Vedic chantings by the sadhus.
  At 11.00 am the plaque was unveiled by Swamishri, Mayor Shri Hareshwar Patil, Deputy Mayor Shri Rambhai Barot and Shri Kiritbhai Somaiya. The ceremony was received amidst a thunder of claps and victory calls. In the assembly that followed, the Mayor Shri Hareshwar Patil declared the Flyover as 'Bhagwan Swaminarayan Flyover'. In his blessings Swamishri appreciated the efforts of the officials and wished, " That whosoever travels on this Flyover will be blessed by God. They will be blessed with dharma in their lives and become happy in life"

• No matter how intelligent a person may be but when he goes to a gambler he can not
  resist playing a bet. This is simply because of the influence of an immoral atmosphere.
• If God or His holy sadhu becomes a priority in life then we can solve and find solutions to
  many of our problems.
• One should go to such places where one's character is preserved and one gets spiritually
  inspired.
