Kishore-Kishori Jnansatra
Sarangpur
11 to 18 May 2011

Amid the divine and serene atmosphere of the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Sarangpur, over 425 selected kishores and kishoris from throughout Gujarat and Mumbai participated in an intensive  8-day training camp  from 11 to 18 May 2011 in the presence of Pujya Dr Swami.
The camp helped to strengthen satsang in the lives of these youngsters, by focusing on a different topic each day, such as, Upasana, Satpurush, Living for Swamishri, Vachanamrut, Family Unity and Time Management. Inspiring  speeches by Dr Swami and other experienced sadhus provided in-depth knowledge and practical guidance. The topics were elaborated upon further through audio-visual presentations, discussions and interactive activities.
The presentation on Family Unity was greatly appreciated by the youngsters as the sacrifice and contributions of their parents in their upbringing were highlighted. Seeking forgiveness for their own mistakes and pledging to become better, the youngsters wrote letters to their parents.
Sadhus studying at the Sant Training Centre in Sarangpur narrated how they were inspired to become  sadhus and what motivated them in observing niyams during their studies at school and college.
The interviews of dedicated volunteers, Shri Vipulbhai Vaghela and Shri Riteshbhai Gadhia, also inspired the youths. Shri Shaileshbhai Sagparia spoke on ‘Friendship and Love’ drawing attention to the problems faced by the youths of today.
Every morning, experienced teachers taught the youths yoga and pranayama (breathing exercises). Training was also provided on public speaking, networking skills and worship rituals, such as, arti.
Daily, during the camp, the kishores performed physical service by serving food, washing utensils and cleaning washrooms. Kishoris served by cutting vegetables and general housekeeping.
The youths also had darshan of the sanctified places of Bhagwan Swaminarayan  in the village and enjoyed a special kirtan aradhana presented  by the sadhus.
Organized by the Satsang Activities Central Office, this training camp was a tremendously enjoyable and enlightening experience for the youths. Before departing they resolved to focus on their studies, serve their parents and strengthen their personal practice of satsang.
