Yogi Jayanti Celebration

Yogi Jayanti was celebrated in the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Auckland on Wednesday 24 May 2006. About 150 devotees gathered for the evening celebration after the arti. The assembly featured bhajans, a speech on Yogiji Maharaj’s principles and a video presentation based on the kirtan 'Yogi avo te raang mune shid lagadyo...' On Sunday 28 May 2006, over 700 devotees came during the day for darshan and attended the birthday celebration of Yogiji Maharaj. The sabha included bhajans, a short drama by the Yuvak Mandal entitled “Intellectual” and speeches. A selection of video shows on the life of Yogiji Maharaj were also shown.

On this auspicious occasion Shri Jeet Sachdev President of Bhartiya Samaj in New Zealand was present. He was congretulated for recently being awared the “Hind Ratna” award for his services in New Zealand to the Indian community over the last 20 years. Shri Sachdev then addressed the assembly and narrated his great experience of Delhi Akshardham. He said “If one desires to go on a pilgrimage one should go to Akhardham in Delhi.”
