BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha Appeal, India Earthquake 2001

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that has shocked Gujarat, the Bochasanwasi Shree Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), through the inspiration of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, has activated a massive relief aid operation.
The BAPS has over 100 sadhus and 1000 volunteers helping the victims in the worst affected areas. The BAPS is providing clothing, shelter, medical aid and has set up kitchens to feed victims and relief teams.

Bhuj
25 sadhus and 100 volunteers are engaged in relief work. Kitchens are in operation at Bhuj, Bhachao and Rapar, feeding over 20,000 people daily and providing food packets to thousands more.

Morbi
Food packets are being sent daily to the 5 nearby villages of Bagthada, Biliya, Kantipur, Godpar and Rajpar.

Bhadra
Over 5,000 food packets are being distributed daily in the surrounding villages of Jodiya region.

Surendranagar
Food is being prepared and distributed to victims and relief aid workers twice a day.

Amdavad
Relief centres in the suburbs of Amdavad are providing food for 3,000 people and shelter for about 1,000 people. Over 200 volunteers are offering their services at present.

From Rajkot, Mumbai, Sarangpur, Bochasan, Vadodara, Indore, Calcutta and many other BAPS centres over 400 tons of foodstuffs, clothing, shelter materials, medicines, blankets, drinking water and other essential emergency supplies have been transported to the worst affected areas. More supplies are being sent on a daily basis from Amdavad and other BAPS relief work centres.
