Ground Breaking Ceremony
During a ground breaking ceremony ritual,
known as 'Khaat-vidhi', a series of worship rituals are performed. By
uttering specific Vedic mantras for each ritual, three daites are invoked
with 'Bhav' - hearfelt sentiments: the deity of the ground - 'Bhumi
devata', 'Shesh Naag' - who upholds the buiding and 'Varun Dev' - deity
of water. By offering them pujan, using prescribed materials they are
appeased. Thus they imbue their blessings on the successful completion
of the construction, without obstacles.
Below Pramukh Swami Maharaj performs the Khaat - vidhi of the Shree
Swaminarayan mandir, Miami, Florida.
