Gadhada - Photo Story

Sarangpur Page-9, 23 to 24 April 2002
Today, Thakorji was adorned in traditional shepherd's attire. Correspondingly, Raghu Bharvad - with a long wooden shepherd's staff in hand - was present as Swamishri came for the darshan of Harikrishna Maharaj. Raghu held out the staff and said: "Today I have come to give this staff as a gift to Harikrishna Maharaj."
Swamishri: Oh really! And what will He do with it? Graze cattle?
RB: He may do whatever He likes with it.
Swamishri: [At the time of your passing away,] Harikrishna Maharaj will come with this staff to take you to Akshardham.
RB: That is your grace.
Swamishri: Maharaj will come dressed exactly like this (pointing to Harikrishna Maharaj's murti) - with a staff in hand, wearing a pagh, with chhogalu, the dhoti,…
RB: And the waistcoat?
Swamishri: Yes, even the waistcoat…
Swamishri (continued): In Gadhada, Shriji Maharaj had made a magnificent gateway to the mandir. Once, a shepherd like you was passing by and saw the gate. 'Oh! What a grand gate!' he marveled. He was so awestruck by the gate that [when he was about to die,] Shriji Maharaj came with the gate to take him to Akshardham. In the same way, Shriji Maharaj will come for you.
RB: That is your grace… But be sure that you come as well.
Swamishri: Oh everyone (i.e. all the sadhus) will come together.
RB: But don't bring the young ones! (Implying that it would necessarily mean the young sadhus passing on earlier than him, i.e. at a tender age.)
Swamishri (jokingly): But you'll need them to entertain you there!
Sadhu: As a leading figure of Sarangpur, Swami, Raghu would like to present you with something today.
RB (presenting an oversized golden key): Key to the Sarangpur (in English)!
Swamishri: [laughs heartily]
RB: Now you must give us the 'Key to Akshardham'.
Swamishri: Fine. Here (returning the same key), I give you the 'Key to Akshardham'.
