In 1881 on Chaitra Punam, in Vadtal, Dungar Bhakta met Sadguru Vignananand Swami - a senior sadhu initiated and blessed by Lord Swaminarayan. He accepted Vignananand Swami as his guru and decided to go with him to Surat. But he was stopped by his relatives. A few months later he ran away to Surat, but Dhoribhai brought him back. From then on he was banned from going to Vadtal.
