Maharaj
Became His Surety:
After
the Prabodhini festival of Samvat Year 1883, Maharaj gathered
all the Paramhansas in the Akshar-Ordi and held an assembly. From
Junagadh Brahmanand Swami had come, but Swami for some reason
could not come in time. Maharaj addressed all the saints, "All
of you should strictly observe the vartmans, however, you should
give us the assurance by becoming mutual sureties that there will
be no lapse on your part." So, all the saints became sureties
for one another among themselves. It was precisely at this juncture
that Swami arrived from Junagadh and came straight to the Akshar-Ordi
for the darshan of Maharaj. Seeing him, Brahmanand Swami said,
"Here comes Gunatitanand Swami. But now who will become his
surety? All those who are sitting here have become sureties of
one another. Nobody is left out." On hearing this Maharaj
said, "Swami ! His constant surety is Myself." On bearing
this, the entire assembly was astonished. All could see that Swami
enjoyed the infinite favour of Maharaj.
